Will it fit my car?

A 911, Cayenne or Panamera from 2004 to 2016 has lost none of its appeal – unlike its PCM (Porsche Communication Management): outdated maps, fiddly Bluetooth pairing, no Apple CarPlay and no Android Auto. When you retrofit CarPlay to your Porsche, you navigate with Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps, stream music and make calls by voice.

For Porsches we recommend the original look in most cases: an interface brings CarPlay and Android Auto straight to your PCM screen, operated by touch or with the original buttons and dials, depending on the system. The cockpit stays exactly as it left the factory. On older cars with PCM 2.1 or a CD radio, a precisely fitting new display can be the better solution.

The original look starts from CHF 790; for Porsches the final price is usually higher, depending on the PCM version and sound system. That's why you always receive a written fixed price – see prices or go straight to request a quote for your Porsche. We collect your car and usually bring it back the same day.

Factory radios and systems in Porsche cars

PCM 3.1 (approx. 2010–2016)

The 911 (991.1), Boxster and Cayman (981), Cayenne (958), Panamera (970) and early Macan have PCM 3.1 or the CDR-31 CD radio. Here the original-look interface is the first choice in most cases: the screen stays, and CarPlay and Android Auto are added.

PCM 2.x and PCM 3.0 (approx. 2002–2012)

On the 911 (997), Boxster and Cayman (987) and first-generation Cayenne (955/957), the solution depends on the unit: for PCM 3.0, a suitable interface is available in many cases. With PCM 2.0 and 2.1 or the CDR-24 and CDR-30 CD radios, a precisely fitting double-DIN Android display – the same size as the factory radio – is often the more sensible choice.

PCM 4.0 (from approx. 2016)

From around model year 2017 – and on the 911 (991.2) from late 2015 – many Porsches have PCM 4.0 or later, where CarPlay is already on board or can be activated, depending on the equipment. Here we first check whether you need a retrofit at all.

Many Porsches with a Bose or Burmester sound system carry the audio over fibre-optic cable (MOST bus). We plan the right adapter from the start.

What keeps working in your Porsche

  • With the original look: PCM screen, navigation and all vehicle menus
  • Bose or Burmester sound system – with the right adapter
  • Steering-wheel buttons – depending on model and system
  • Parking sensors with beeps and visual display – as a rule unchanged with the original look
  • Factory reversing camera – depending on the car

Porsche questions

Will my PCM screen stay?

Yes. With the original-look interface, your PCM screen stays exactly as it is. CarPlay and Android Auto appear on it and are operated by touch, with the original buttons and dials or by voice, depending on the system. A press of a button switches between PCM and CarPlay, and navigation, radio and vehicle menus work as before. With PCM 2.1 the original look is only possible to a limited extent – here we'll advise you on a precisely fitting display.

Does it work with Bose or Burmester sound?

In most cases, yes. With the original-look interface, sound still plays through your factory system, so the audio quality is retained. If we replace the radio with a new display on older models, the fibre-optic connection (MOST bus) usually requires a special adapter. We calculate this work in advance and show it transparently in your fixed-price quote.

How much does CarPlay cost in a Porsche?

The original look starts from CHF 790. For Porsches the final price is usually higher, depending on the PCM version, model and sound system, because special interfaces and adapters are needed. That's why we always give you a written fixed price – after a free check based on the model, year and a photo of the cockpit. Pickup and return in Zurich and Zug are included.

My Porsche is from 2016 or later – might it already have CarPlay?

Quite possibly. From around model year 2017 – and on the 911 (991.2) from late 2015 – many Porsches have PCM 4.0 or later, where CarPlay is already on board or can be activated, depending on the equipment. We check this from photos and the year before installing anything. If you don't need a retrofit at all, we'll tell you honestly.
